Hero Lab Online Accounts now Give you More for Less
You spoke, and we listened! We’ve overhauled our account options and made a variety of adjustments, starting with making the Apprentice account free for everyone! GMs now have even more reason to convince their players to hop online and join a campaign at no cost to anyone. Apprentice accounts can join any number of campaigns a GM authorizes and will immediately have access to all shared content within that campaign.
Outside of campaigns, Apprentice users can have fun trialing stand-alone character creation by crafting any number of basic characters (Cleric, Rogue, Fighter, and Wizard) and are allowed 1st level character creation for more complex classes. For even more fun, GMs in a campaign now have access to edit their player’s characters as needed, making it even easier to lend new players a hand or sneak in that secret special item during play. So what are you waiting for, Game Masters? Let’s get your team up and running!
Patrons get a few tweaks too!
A lot of our users have made requests for Patron sharing to be usable in joined campaigns, even if the Patron isn’t the GM, allowing for kind players to pay the way for their fearless leaders. Now you can! From this point forward we decree that all Patrons can turn on content sharing for up to four campaigns they’ve joined. Even better, this pools all the content from all campaign members, and everyone can use it. (Example: If Rayne is the GM and already owns the content from Galactic Magic and Near Space and Kaelyn purchases Pact Worlds and turns on his Patron sharing for their campaign, every member of their current campaign—including FREE Apprentice accounts—can now create characters with content from Galactic Magic, Near Space, and Pact Worlds.)
Does your GM need a break? Go ahead and give them one! Campaigns leaders can now be changed, meaning anyone with permission can run game night. Maybe try taking turns!
No stuff left behind!
Campaigns go on hold, friends move on, and sometimes you’re left with a character and no campaign. This begs the question, when a campaign Patron turns off content sharing, what happens to the characters inside? Whenever a character loses access to data packages (e.g. leaving a campaign with content sharing, subscription lapsing, etc.), any selections made such as class or gear that depend on those packages continues to function as normal so long as they aren’t deleted, allowing you to continue play or archive your character for future use without losing your hard earned loot.
Note that if any content is deleted from a character, it can’t be re-added without access to the packages associated with the content. Don’t fret, any changes that would result in deletion are highlighted and warn against the dangers.
What’s next?
From quality of life improvements to account overhauls, things at LWD just keep getting better, and we’re not done yet! Next on our list are a few surprises and eventually the Loot Locker we mentioned in our January newsletter.
